Hand crafted by Karen of Karatstix, this WPI (wraps per inch) gauge has been made from bamboo using a laser engraving and cutting machine to ensure highly accurate measurements. It is then lovingly sanded and embellished by hand with colored pencils and coated with a satin polyurethane finish and polished to a silky feel. A metal goldtone split key ring enables you to take it everywhere if you like. There is a 1 inch ruler in the center. Just wrap the yarn around this length so that the strands are just touching and not crowded or overlapping (and don't stretch your yarn). Count the number of wraps and this can tell you the gauge of your yarn. Compare the wraps of other yarns and when the number of wraps are the same, the yarns are interchangeable.
